The Condition of Fruitfulness

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.  If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.  If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.  Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. Why can fruit come forth only out of a living relationship with Jesus, the vine? Why is abiding in Jesus so important? How do we abide in Him? (John 15: 8)

The first secret to genuine Christian fruit bearing is to abide in Christ. Apart from Christ, we cannot produce genuine spiritual fruit. The fruit of the Spirit is not imposed upon us from outside, but is the result of the life of Christ within us. In John 15:1-8, NKJV, Jesus tells us that fruit bearing is the result of the life of Christ, the vine, flowing through the branches of the believers. The growth of the fruit is God’s work through Jesus Christ.

The responsibility of the believer is to abide in Christ. When Christ dwells in our thoughts, He will become visible in our actions. Jesus lives His life in us. The life Christ lived will be reproduced in us, in the sense that we will reflect His character.

The fruit of the Spirit is the character of Jesus, produced by the Holy Spirit in the followers of Christ. When Christ dwells in us, we will « walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh » (Gal. 5:16,).

In the words of Jesus:  » ‘Every good tree bears good fruit; but the rotten tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree produce good fruit’ «  (Matt. 7:1718). The good fruit is the natural product of our abiding relationship with Jesus through the Holy Spirit. When we cooperate with the Spirit’s inner promptings on our hearts, the fruit of the Spirit becomes evident in our lives. Our characters will be transformed to reflect the character of Jesus Christ in what we say and do and even think. The Holy Spirit will give us power to live victoriously and to develop the virtues that are characteristic of those who are God’s children.

In 2 Timothy 3:5, the apostle Paul describes people who « will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly » . What is the difference between a religious life and a life that is filled with the Holy Spirit? How can we know which kind of life we ourselves are living? Or hw can I know which kind of life I am living?

UKUREKURIRA ABATUGIRIYE NABI NTIBISOBANURA KWIBAGIRA

 

Nuko rero, nk’uko bibereye abatoranijwe n’Imana bera bakundwa na yo, mwambare umutima w’ikigongwe, ineza, ukwicisha bugufi, ugutekereza n’ukwihangana, mwihanganirana, muharirana, iyo umuntu agize ico apfa n’uwundi. Nk’uko Umwami wacu yabahariye, namwe mube ari ko muharirana. Ikigeretse kuri ivyo vyose mwambare urukundo, ni rwo mugozi uzana gutungana. Kandi amahoro ya Kristo aganze mu mitima yanyu (Abakolosayi 3: 12-15)

Aha, Paulo ntavuga kwibagira. Subiramwo usome neza: « Nuko rero, nk’uko bibereye abatoranijwe n’Imana bera bakundwa na yo, mwambare umutima w’ikigongwe, ineza, ukwicisha bugufi, ugutekereza n’ukwihangana, mwihanganirana, muharirana, iyo umuntu agize ico apfa n’uwundi ». Kuko ingabirano yo kwibuka ivyatubayeko canke ivyabaye muri kahise, n’Imana iyiha umuntu uwariwe wese. Na Yesu mw’ijuru ntiyibagiye abamugiriye nabi. Handitswe ngo « Kandi bamubajije, bati izo nguma ziri mu biganza vyawe n’iz’iki? Nawe azokwishura, ati N’izo nakomerekeye mu nzu y’abakunzi banje (Zekariya 13: 6).

Gusa, abantu b’Imana barihangana. Kandi kwihangana biri mu maraso y’abakobwa n’abagore cane, gusumvya abagabo. Naho abagabo badakunda kurira, hariho ibintu bibagora kwihanganira. Nico gituma bihutira guca imanza, ndetse bamwe bakazicira uko bumva.  Iyo rero bavuze ko ikintu ucihanganiye, ntikiba cazimanganye, mugabo kiba kikuremera, ariko ukacihanganira. Abo mu rugo rwacu canke ababanyi incuti n’abagenzi, dutegerezwa kubihanganira muri vyose, nivyo iri jambo ry’Imana ryavuze ngo « mwambare umutima w’ikigongwe, ineza, ukwicisha bugufi, ugutekereza n’ukwihangana, mwihanganirana, muharirana, iyo umuntu agize ico apfa n’uwundi. Nk’uko Umwami wacu yabahariye, namwe mube ari ko muharirana ». Iri jambo ngo « Nk’uko Umwami wacu yabahariye, namwe mube ari ko muharirana » ni ryiza. Kuko Umwami wacu yatwihanganiye muri vyose, adusaba guharira abatugiriye nabi gushitsa kw’iherezo; aravuga ngo « Jeho sindakubwira yuko ugeza indwi, ariko ugeze indwi indwi gushitsa incuro mirongo irindwi. »Na Data wo mw’ijuru ni ko azobagirira, ni mutaharirana, umuntu wese ngo aharire umuvukanyi wiwe bivuye mu mutima (Matayo 18: 22, 35).

Erega uwo ni wo musaraba twahamagariwe kwikorera. « Harahiriwe umuntu yihanganira ibimugerageza, kuko ni yamara kurama azohabwa igitsibo c’ubugingo, ico Imana yasezeraniye abayikunda (Yakobo 1: 12). Uhoraho akugirire neza aguhe kwihangana. Bisaba ubutwari, ariko nivyo bizana urugori rw’ubugingo, mw’izina ryera rya Yesu. Amen.
